Hannah {A personal project}

Ich liebe es, Menschen zu fotografieren. Ich liebe es, neue Menschen kennzulernen. Ich liebe es, mit ihnen zu sprechen, mit ihnen zu lachen, von ihnen mit Vertrauen bedacht zu werden. Ich liebe es, wenn ich mehr bin als nur ihre Fotografin. Und ich denke, dass die besten Fotos entstehen, wenn ich mehr bin als nur die Fotografin. Wenn wir einen Moment erleben, so kurz er auch sein mag, in dem wir Freunde sind.

Es ist aber ebenso wichtig, manchmal nur für sich selbst zu fotografieren, eigene Ideen umzusetzen, die Kreativität fließen zu lassen, nicht darauf achten zu müssen, dass man genug Fotos hat, die den KundInnen gefallen, sondern genug Bilder hat, die einem selbst gefallen. Immer mal wieder sollte man persönliche Projekte einschieben, um neue Inspirationen zu bekommen, wieder kreativ zu sein, etwas Neues auszuprobieren.

Den ganzen Sommer war ich damit beschäftigt, zu fotografieren. Ich hatte so viele Shootings, dass ich nicht einmal Zeit hatte, zu überlegen, was mein persönliches Projekt sein könnte. Als dann der Sommer vorbei war und es schon wieder kälter wurde, dämmerte es mir: Ich wollte so gerne eine Frau im Kleid im Wasser fotografieren. Wäre mir das mal bei wärmeren Temperaturen eingefallen! Also fragte ich Hannah, ob sie Lust hat, mir bei diesem Projekt zur Seite zu stehen. Mit ihren langen blonden Locken war sie genau der Typ, den ich mir für dieses Shooting vorgestellt hatte.

Glücklicherweise sagte sie sofort ja und war auch bereit, trotz nur etwas mehr als 13 Grad (!), ins Wasser zu gehen! Obwohl das Wasser echt kalt war, hat sie es sehr lange ausgehalten, und diese Fotos möglich gemacht, und mir geholfen, dieses persönliche Projekt zu machen.

Vielen, vielen Dank, liebe Hannah, dass du so mutig und spontan warst! Ich hatte – wieder einmal – total viel Spaß mit dir und hoffe – nein, ich weiß -, was war nicht das letzte Mal, dass du vor meiner Kamera standst. Danke, dass du mir bei diesem Projekt zur Seite standest! Die Bilder sind genauso geworden, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte!

I love to photograph people. I love to meet new people. I love to talk to them, to laugh with them, to be trusted by them. I love, when I am more than just the photographer. And I think, the best pictures come out, when I am more than just the photographer. If we share a moment, however small, of friendship.

But it is also important to sometimes just shoot for yourself. To create your own vision, to let your creativity fly, instead of mainly fulfilling the wishes of your clients. To take pictures you love, instead of focusing on pictures they’ll love. You should have little personal projects to gain new imspiration, try new things and be creative.

I was so busy this summer with shootings. I had so many that I wasn’t even thinking of setting time away for a personal project. At the end of the summer, when it got colder, I realised: I wanted to shoot a woman in a dress in the water. I should have thought about it before! But when I asked Hannah, she was game immediately. With her blond curls she was exactly the type I was looking for.

When we met it was only a little over 13°C, but she went into the water and really was there for a long time! She made these pictures possible and helped me realize this personla project.

Thank you so much, dear Hannah, for being so courageous and spontaneous! It was – again – so much fun to shoot you and I hope – no, I know -, it wasn’t the last shooting we did together. Thank you so much for helping make my vision come true. The pictures turned out exactly as I hoped!
